Tales of Three Downeast Maine Women

Farming, Framing, Food

The sea has undoubtedly been a source of inspiration since time began. Three Downeast Maine women will share their personal journeys of inspiration from the ocean waters that surround us and the Blue Mussels that live in the intertidal zone of those beautiful waters.

Three women, three distinct stories, one inspiring afternoon in Sedgwick Maine!

1-4 pm   Art Show & Sale + Strong’s Bar open for beverage purchases

Mingle with Mia, Shey, Carolyn and others, enjoy a drink from Strong's Bar, and have an opportunity to see and purchase artwork!

Two original Blue Mussel Shell Portraits by Artist Carolyn Butera from her Downeast Maine Collection will be on display, along with a limited number of hand signed fine art prints for sale, all professionally secured in antique frames. Original paintings were produced using layers of watercolor paints and handmade shell pigment on Fabriano paper from Italy.

2:00 pm Chef Mia Strong will prepare and serve tastings of Mussels al Diablo and Mussels Cacio e Pepe.

2:30 pm Shey Conover of Marshall Cove Mussels in Isleboro will share what inspired her to establish an aquaculture farm.

3:00 pm Carolyn Butera, Artist, will share her journey of inspiration to produce "portrait paintings" of Blue Mussel shells.

After the event, Strong's will be open for dinner from 4-8 pm with our full menu and special Blue Mussel entrees while supplies last!

Bad Daddy

Bad Daddy

Bad Daddy’s musical perspective is a geographical brew of Chicago and coastal Maine where he’s a celebrated yacht designer. His style is a gritty, crunchy compression of classic blues and dank, sticky roots rock. That sound anchors the themes in his new record, It’s a Mad, Mad Bad Dad World — including its kickoff single, “Pork Pie Hat.” Shaken together it’s a modern cocktail of feel good, soul-filled tunes that groove and move.

Sedgwick: Brewing A Better Future

Join us to learn more about Question 1 on the November 5, 2024 statewide ballot to get big money out of politics.

Every year billionaires from away contribute millions of dollars to Super PACs for the purpose of buying elections and political influence in Maine.

Unlimited and unregulated Super PAC money in elections drowns out the voices of the Maine people, makes politics more negative, erodes faith in our democracy, and gives wealthy special interests way too much power over the policy decisions that affect all of us.

We need a system that works–where your vote is always counted, your voice is already heard, and our democracy isn't for sale.

Question 1 limits contributions to political action committees (PACs) to get big money out of politics and take back Maine elections for the Maine people.
